We’re looking for bright Java Fullstack Heroes to join our team
Critical TechWorks operates at the cutting edge of BMW Group’s technologies. We develop, deliver, and operate the systems that allow BMW to build, sell, and distribute vehicles as well as the in-car systems that create unique sheer driving experiences. We help build the car platform as well as applications like the navigation system, driving assistance, personalization, and entertainment. Full Stack Development: Work across the full stack, from creating interactive user interfaces with modern JavaScript frameworks to developing robust backend services in Java.
Database Integration: Integrate Java applications with databases like PostgreSQL or MongoDB, ensuring smooth data flow and storage.
Agile Methodology Participation: Actively participate in Scrum events, contributing to the agile development process.
Code Quality Assurance: Implement best practices for clean, testable, and efficient code, including unit testing and code reviews.
Collaborative Problem-Solving: Work with other developers, product owners, and designers to brainstorm and implement effective solutions for complex software challenges.
Continuous Integration and Deployment: Engage with CI/CD tools like Jenkins or Git to automate the building, testing, and deployment of Java applications.
This is a Rockstar Developer role, our take on the classic Software Developer.
Standing as the brick-and-mortar of Critical TechWorks, it plays a crucial role in designing, developing, building, testing, deploying, and maintaining our product. You can find out more - and check other Development vacancies - at this link.
Whatever you’re working on, here’s the lowdown on the technical skills you’re likely to have:
At least 2 years of experience using Java.
Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (competency in Angular, React or Vue.js is a plus).
Experienced with SQL and NoSQL databases.
Familiarity with Microservices Architecture, Cloud Architecture and Container Architecture.
Desirable knowledge in domain-driven design, event sourcing, reactive programming, automated testing, and security.
Experience in developing Java UI applications using design principles, patterns, and best practices.
Familiarity with different architecture concepts such as Cloud, Microservices, Containers, and Infrastructure as Code.
Experience analyzing and improving app performance and resource utilization across the full stack.

Apply standard engineering practices using tools like version control, IDEs, and dashboards for organized development.
Adopt DevOps best practices, including Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for building, testing, and deploying reliable software.
Operate software post-deployment, including outside working hours if needed (extra compensation applies).
Travel abroad occasionally to support all phases of product development.
Have excellent English oral and written skills. German communication skills will be a plus.
