We’re looking for 3D Rockstar Developers to join our team.
At Critical TechWorks, our 3D Rockstar Developers are crucial in bringing 3D assets and data to life across BMW Group off-board applications. If you’re passionate about 3D visualization, cutting-edge technology, and collaborating on dynamic projects, this is your chance to make an impact. As a 3D Rockstar Developer, you’ll focus on creating high-quality software that drives innovation in the automotive software landscape, developing reusable visualization components and plugins for future applications.
Advanced 3D Development: Create interactive 3D product visualization software, including components and plugins for a wide range of applications.
Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deliver new features that enhance users' overall experience.
Efficiency and Optimization: Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency and optimize render performance.
Visualization Expertise: Work on applications that include 3D interaction and visualization across the automotive software landscape.
Continuous Learning: Bring fresh and exciting ideas to inspire others, while staying up-to-date with the latest trends in 3D technology.
This is a Rockstar Developer role, our take on the classic Software Developer.
Standing as the brick-and-mortar of Critical TechWorks, it plays a crucial role in designing, developing, building, testing, deploying, and maintaining our product. You can find out more - and check other Development vacancies - at this link.
Whatever you’re working on, here’s the lowdown on the technical skills you’re likely to have:
A solid background in software engineering with experience developing software applications.
Basic knowledge about 3D (CAD) software such as Catia, Microstation, or Building Information Model (BIM).
Basic math knowledge and linear algebra.
Knowledge about coordinate systems: geographical coordinates, cartesian coordinates, point clouds.
Experience working with 3D game engines like Unreal Engine, Unity or Blender is a plus.
Experience profiling and optimizing solutions and render performance (GPU and CPU) is a plus.
Experience working with process simulation tools is a plus.
Experience working with visual assets.
Proficiency in developing with C++ or Python, or a willingness to learn.
Knowledgeable about design and interaction patterns.
Azure knowledge is a plus.
Strong quality mindset.

Apply standard engineering practices using tools like version control, IDEs, and dashboards for organized development.
Adopt DevOps best practices, including Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for building, testing, and deploying reliable software.
Operate software post-deployment, including outside working hours if needed (extra compensation applies).
Travel abroad occasionally to support all phases of product development.
Have excellent English oral and written skills. German communication skills will be a plus.
