Bespoke System Customization: Tailor the Android OS to create a bespoke experience for BMW vehicles, from the kernel up to the user-facing elements.
Cross-Layer Optimization: Work across software layers to enhance system performance, collaborating with hardware teams to ensure compatibility and efficiency.
Innovative Android Development: Leverage your expertise in Kotlin and Android SDK to develop cutting-edge applications for user-facing and back-end products, electrification, and vehicle connectivity.
UI Design and Implementation: Craft user interfaces for Android applications, applying best practices in design principles and patterns for an optimal user experience.
Performance Optimization: Continuously analyze and enhance the performance and resource utilization of applications, ensuring efficiency and reliability across the full stack.
Collaborative Problem-Solving: Work closely with cross-functional Scrum teams, sharing ideas and solutions to overcome technical challenges and drive project success.
Integration and Testing: Ensure your code integrates smoothly with existing systems and passes rigorous testing protocols, maintaining the high-quality standards Critical TechWorks is known for.
This is a Rockstar Developer role, our take on the classic Software Developer.

Whatever you’re working on, here’s the lowdown on the technical skills you’re likely to have:
3+ years' worth of experience as an android developer.
Experience with Kotlin.
Proven professional software development experience with the Android SDK, Eclipse or Android Studio.
Embedded Android Expertise: understanding of the Android operating system's architecture.
C++ and Beyond: Background in C++ and familiarity with other low-level programming languages, essential for system-level development.
Experience in Android development patterns: Java OOP, JSON/Rest APIs, and multi-threading tasks.
Experience in developing Android UI applications using design principles, patterns, and best practices.
Experience analyzing and improving app performance and resource utilization across the full stack.

Apart from strong technical skills, our fast-paced, fully agile environment values autonomy, teamwork, interaction, and resilience. Therefore, our Platform Product Visionaries should:
Embrace agile practices, especially Scrum, leveraging its events to foster a high-performing team.
Be cross-functional, developing new skills to enable a team that owns the entire product lifecycle.
Apply standard engineering practices using tools like version control, IDEs, and dashboards for organized development.
Adopt DevOps best practices, including Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for building, testing, and deploying reliable software.
Operate software post-deployment, including outside working hours if needed (extra compensation applies).
Travel abroad occasionally to support all phases of product development.
Have excellent English oral and written skills. German communication skills will be a plus.
